Fife-based timber merchanting firm James Donaldson & Sons has acquired two more businesses to help expand its housebuilding and bespoke joinery markets. Joinery and Manufacturing Fife has purchased Rowan Manufacturing in Airdrie and Smith & Frater in Bathgate and Grangemouth.

The takeovers will help expand the company’s product ranges in a number of areas, including door sets, bespoke joinery and kitchen manufacturing. JDS group managing director Scott Cairns said the acquisition was a natural progression for the business.

Fife

Fife is a historic and scenic area of Scotland located north of the Firth of Forth. The region is a popular tourist destination, known for its many historical buildings and attractions. It is home to one of the world’s oldest universities, St Andrews, and is also well-known for its golf courses.
